Frequently asked questions
Answers to common questions about travel health and vaccinations. Our pharmacist is happy to help with anything else.
What is the purpose of travel health?
Travel health helps you stay well before, during and after a trip abroad. Our pharmacist reviews your destination, itinerary and medical history, then recommends the vaccines, medicines and practical advice that reduce your risk of preventable illness.
What vaccines do I need for travelling?
It depends on where you are going, how long you will stay, what you plan to do and which vaccines you have already had. A travel consultation lets our pharmacist recommend the right protection for your trip, such as cholera, typhoid, hepatitis A or rabies.
How far in advance should I book my travel health appointment, and what are some recommendations?
Ideally book six to eight weeks before you travel, as some vaccines need more than one dose or time to take effect. If your trip is sooner, contact us anyway — we can often still help.
Will I get a certificate as proof of vaccination?
Yes. You will receive a record of the vaccines given at Batley Pharmacy — keep it with your travel documents. Some countries ask for specific certificates on entry, and our pharmacist can explain what your destination requires.
